Card Fun

I have had fun making some cards since I got my craft room mostly unpacked and organized.  I get the monthly card kit from Simon Says Stamp and I fell in love with one card sample from the Sept. kit.  I made 9 cards with the papers and then used the scraps to make a chevron card.  I entered the chevron card in the challenge Simon Says Stamp has this week to celebrate their Stamptember.  Here is the link. http://simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.com/2012/09/challenge-read-all-about-it_4.html
The sample card was a square card but I changed it to an A2 card for Operation Write Home. I used different embossed fronts behind the square.

The images are Bugaboo images colored with Copics or watercolor pencils and the sentiments are from SRM sticker sheets I got on the cruise in Feb.
This has a Bugaboo image.
This has a sentiment from the SRM sticker sheet.
This is a Dustin Pike image with an SRM sentiment.
This is the chevron card I made with the scraps from the other cards.  I added the faux stitching around the edge and used a Stampin' Up sentiment.
These are some other cards I made using stickers I had gotten on clearance and have been sitting in my stash for awhile. The paper was from a 6x6 paper pad.

I got this card idea from an online class I took from Jennifer McGuire.  I have really enjoyed the classes and I have learned a lot.

This card was designed around the owls on the paper.  I cut the paper so the owls would be on the top part and found some coordinating paper from the 6x6 paper pad.
These were some other cards I made with the paper too.  The flowers are a Bugaboo image.  I wanted to make a fall card and had the leaf stickers so I tried to copy a card I saw with that curve.

This idea I got from Pinterest.  My friends in Mich. are still getting together on Fridays and making cards and they were making one like this so I experimented with it.  I put the circles on pop dots which I wouldn't do again.

  1. Your array of cards are very cute. I like your design and your effective use of pattern and color. The images you've colorized are very nicely done as well. Thanks for sharing your work with us at Simon Says Stamp and Show. <3 Candy

  2. Your cards are AMAZING! You referenced one of Jennifer's classes as the inspiration for some of your cards--do you remember which class?
Can you share some of the dimensions, please? What size square did you use to cut your triangles? And what is the size of the scraps on your chevron card?
One more, who makes the embossing folder on the card 7th from the bottom?
I had a thought on your one that you made with the circles...why not just pop-dot a few of them to make them really stand out. I think Kristina had made one similar awhile back--put not positive.
Thank you and your husband for all the sacrifices you make for our freedom!

    1. Katie, the online class that I referred to was the Summer Card Camp 2011 and it was one of Kristina's picks, #3. I don't have a name just a that it was on a flicker account. I have taken all of the online classes since last fall and I went back to the 2 older ones and took them as self paced classes.
The Sept card kit cards, I used a background square of 3 3/4". The smaller squares were 1 3/4" then cut diagonally. I saw a video of Kristina making her sample card after I made my cards and she used a square and put a triangle on top of it which would have been a lot easier to get even.
The chevron pieces are 3/4" wide by 1 3/4" long.
The embossing folder on that card is Daisy & Swirls by Craft Too.
The card with the circles is cased from one Kristine Werner made. It had vellum and chipboard letters.

    2. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.....I also tried to do the cards using triangles, trying to save paper, but definitely turned out less than satisfactory.........and there is absolutely NO reason I need to save paper, I have FAR too much, even after 2 or three "weedings."
I then did some with squares and they go so much faster and are much better looking.
      Thanks again!
